Free Pattern Friday – Kaye Pullover

It’s Free Pattern Friday!

Today, the Kaye Pullover in Cotton True Sport.

You may remember last Friday’s free pattern, the Kaye Cardigan.  It took its inspiration from the mother of one of our LYS owners here in town.  Well, we loved the way her cardigan turned out, and we thought it would make a great pullover.  So, voila!

The Kaye Pullover is a nice warm-weather piece, with its openwork in Cotton True Sport (197yds/50g).  Unlike the cardigan, the pullover has a picot neckline for an extra decorative touch.  It keeps the same diamond patterning just above the cuffs and hem.

It’s such a great feeling to be able to customize a beloved design to make it work perfectly for you.  We’re glad we were able to take inspiration from Kaye’s closet, and we’re delighted to be able to share it with you.

Happy knitting!

    1. Oops! Sorry for the oversight. We’ll get that fixed.

  1. I’ve ripped this out 4 times now because the written directions are either incorrect or there is something I’m missing. The instructions don’t match the picture. I followed exactly the Hem ” work in K1, P1 ribbing for 4 rows” after cast on and the K1P1 ribbing “* K1P1, rep from * to end, Rep Row 1 for patt”
Then you end on WS to begin Simple Eyelet, Row 1 K2, *k2tog, yo, rep from * to last st, k2. Row 2 you close the eyelets when you purl across the row. Then when you start the repeat 1 time, you get another row of eyelets but they are not one big one like the picture. Then I continued to the ridge pattern where you start on RS purl, row 2 knit, row 3 knit, row 4 purl, row 5 purl, row 6 knit. Then you’re supposed to repeat which again doesn’t match the picture. If I repeat I have double the purl rows after completing row 6.

    1. Hi Karen,

I’m sorry to hear you’re having some frustration with this! I’ve looked over the pattern and I do believe it is correct. It sounds like you may be leaving out some of the steps?

First you work the ribbing, then Simple Eyelets, then Rows 1-6 of the Ridge pattern, then Large Eyelets, then Diamonds, then Ridge, and then onto the main body pattern which is the small eyelets pattern.

There really isn’t a coherent repeat to that hem portion – nothing repeats, except that you will eventually work the Ridge pattern twice. Did you perhaps misread the Large Eyelets section and think it said Small Eyelets? Please feel free to reach out to me via email – AGunderson@universalyarn.com.

      Good luck with your project!
