Free Pattern Friday – Solitaire Stole

It’s Free Pattern Friday!

Lumen Multi Solitaire Stole wrapped_blogToday, the Solitaire Stole in Lumen Multi.

Lumen Multi 202 Essence_blogWow.  If there’s a match of design and yarn more suited to Spring, then I don’t know what it could be.  Lumen (right) and its variegated sibling Lumen Multi (134yds/50g) are both a great warm-weather blend.  Mostly matte cotton with stretches of shimmering viscose, it’s got just the right amount of shine to be eye-catching. While it’s perfect in the pastel 204 Reflect, I’m also wondering how it would look in a solid – or even with a variegated body and a solid border, picking up a new color as you knit across.

Lumen Multi Solitaire Stole_blog

This rectangular stole is worked sideways in one piece.  The Diamond Border pattern begins with 25 stitches. On WS rows 2-24, 1 stitch is increased at the beginning of every row. On rows 25-47, stitches are decreased back down.  The border pattern is charted and easy to anticipate without referring to the pattern once you’ve got the hang of it.

This is a great wrap for a brisk evening, when the weather’s a little uncertain but you still want to be prepared.  This is going on my list – after our Rocked knitalong is done!

Happy knitting!

Free Pattern Friday – Mermaid Tunic

It’s Free Pattern Friday!

Lumen Mermaid Tunic blogToday, the Mermaid Tunic in Lumen.

We were actually going to wait for warmer weather to release this, but it got so much love at Stitches West that we just had to set it free.

This tunic is worked in pieces from the bottom up and seamed.   The lace pattern is a simple six-row repeat – no cable needle needed for those twists.

Lumen 3 ball stack blogIt’s designed for Rozetti Lumen (134yds/50g), a chained cotton ribbon with shiny viscose stretches.  Its vivid color is delicious.  There’s a multi version, too.

We hope you enjoy this little burst of Spring in the midst of winter.

Happy knitting!

Free Pattern Friday – Loft Jacket

It’s Free Pattern Friday!

Allore Loft Jacket_blog

Today, the Loft Jacket in Allore.

Allore 101 Nero hi-res
Allore Color 101 Nero

Allore (109yds/50g) is new for Rozetti Yarns this season, and we love it.  It’s light and lofty, with a brushed, slightly fuzzy appearance.  But what takes it to the next level is a) it’s got lovely gradations in shade, and b) glitter!  A metallic strand running through it makes it easy to make instant “dress up” pieces. Working on a US 9-11 needle means knits go fast.

This jacket is worked flat from the bottom up and then seamed.  Regularly spaced twists give it just the right amount of texture.  Add buttonholes at the collar or secure it with a pin, as we’ve done here.

I love this jacket.  What a great mix of cozy and elegant.

Free Pattern Friday – Swoop Tee

It’s Free Pattern Friday!

Bamboo Glam Swoop Tee final_blog

Today, we feature the Swoop Tee in Bamboo Glam.

Bamboo Glam 3-shot hi-res_cutout_RavBamboo Glam is brand new for us, although as you can tell from the model we’ve already gotten some advance samples and have had a blast working with it.  It’s 96% bamboo with 4% glitter for just the right amount of glam.  Our full stock is due to arrive any time now and we can’t wait!

Bamboo Glam Swoop Tee detailThis top is constructed in a bit of an unusual way.  First the mesh sleeve saddles are knit sideways.  Then stitches are picked up off the sides of the saddles and the back and front are worked down. They’re joined after a couple of inches and the body is worked in the round down to the hem.

The “Swoop” lace is on both the front and the back of the tee.

What a great warm-weather project!

Happy knitting!

Free Pattern Friday – Amphoras Tank

It’s Free Pattern Friday!

AmphorasTank_CottonGold

Today, we present the Amphoras Tank in Cotton Gold.  If ever there were a perfect marriage of pattern and yarn, this is it.

Cotton Gold is a thread of cotton with some extra sparkle.  A strand of metallic glitter is wound around the cotton, and the whole affair is generously strung with glittering sequins.  You don’t have to imagine what this does for a lace pattern, you can see.  It dazzles.  This is another yarn that we love so much that we are expanding the color palette.  You can see sneak peeks of the silver, purple, and blue on our website.

The Amphoras Tank is a very stretchy top designed to fit with up to 4″ of negative ease.  The yarn is held doubled throughout.  The Amphoras Lace repeat is written and charted – follow whichever is most comfortable for you.

We hope you enjoy this bit of glitter in your day!

Sunday Swatch – Polaris

Today’s Sunday Swatch is in Polaris, color 71009 Libra.

Sunday Swatch in PolarisPolaris is a champion of our Rozetti Yarns line.  It’s a lightweight yarn with a lovely, soft halo.  Sequins are spaced along its length, and I’m here to tell you that the sequins stay where they are.  This is a sturdy yarn.

Sunday Swatch Polaris in car door 1How do I know?  Coming home from work a few days ago, I made it all the way into the house before I felt a tug coming from my purse.  I walked back outside and saw what no needlecrafter wants to see.

Sunday Swatch was still in the car.  I was not.

Fearing the worst, I opened the door.

Sunday Swatch Polaris in car door 2Whew!  It was a good day to go with circular needles instead of straights – the cable was fine, but if it had been a straight needle it surely would have snapped.

The yarn itself withstood being slammed in the car door and dragged across the driveway with absolutely no ill effects.  If a cat has nine lives, how many does this swatch have?

This stitch pattern is taken from the Snowflower Scarf pictured at right, a free three-ball pattern in Polaris on our website.  Pretty!

Polaris is a yarn that we love so much we’re adding new colors this Fall.  I look forward to using this yarn to make more projects – all tucked safely away from car doors.
