Last year we introduced a very special yarn called Unity, along with its patterned counterpart, Unity Beyond.
Unity/Unity Beyond is made up of linen, cotton, bamboo, and wool. Man, I love a good blend, especially when it’s the best of both plant and animal worlds, as is the case with Unity. This yarn is bursting with character. Let me give you a closer look:
The bamboo, wool, and cotton are combed together and twisted, and a fine strand of linen is wrapped around. The strand is just a bit thick and thin, but subtly so. In the Unity Beyond colorways, the dye is printed on just one side of the yarn giving an organic, washed out appearance.

This collection was photographed just blocks from our office here in Charlotte at an old-timey general store called Davis General Merchandise. The owner, Silas, kindly allowed us to shoot around the grounds to take advantage of the aged, rich texture of the building materials. Our own Rachel Brockman did the photography, so every shot is through the knitter’s eye.

I love wool blends, and this yarn looks like a great one. Interesting that the dye is printed on one side. Colorways look yummy too!
I love this yarn. Very pretty best used in double crochet. She was correct in saying that the more intricate pattern does not show up as well. I would probably make a longer vest or a scarf.
What is so unique about me? I don’t knit the way most other people do. I lost my half my right thumb to cancer and have to hold my needle in a very unique way. I would love to try this yarn. It looks so pretty.
So sorry about your losing your thumb. I was diagnosed with a chronic illness 2 years ago and crochet is my hobby now.

I imagine that the 3 fibers offer a satisfying experience working them into a knit or crochet project. Each fiber is individually uniquely strong and responsive to heat or moisture. I bet it would be such a pleasure to knit up that Atacama scarf or mmmm… that Kalahari wrap. The pieces could become a long lasting staple in anyone’s closet…especially with yarn of such integrity and character. Love love love.
I love the way the colors blend together. The fiber blends would make a truly soft item. The Atacama scarf shows the yarn beautifully. Hmmm, something unique about me, sorry ,can’t think of anything.
I’ve only crocheted with cotton or acrylic yarn and would love to work with a wool blend, it sounds amazing to work with. I don’t knit but this yarn makes me want to learn to knit.

This unity yarn is just so beautiful. Looks so soft also. Well, here’s something unique about me since these are the rules for the giveaway. I’m was diagnosed with lupus 2 years ago. Since I’m disabled at this point due to extreme fatigue, I decided to take back my crochet hobby and keep my mind busy. I recently finished my first blanket and was so happy!

I love working with bamboo and cotton – they are just so soft! What is unique about me??? All of me is unique! I have purple hair, love to sing, work in accounting and love crocheting as it lets me be so creative and it is all about the math. When you have figured out the math to the pattern you can do so much with it. I also own a great dane named Basil.

Uniqueness is unique!! Unique yarn is a treasure and a unique trait is what makes you you! I have many tiny unique things from my children to me. My kids are very unique, both redheads. My 14yr girl is tall and at 95% height for her age. My 16yr son is small and at 5% height for his age. I covered the spectrum.
Thank you for the great swatching video! My favorite was the double crochet and I would probably make a scarf with this yarn, although the tank pattern is lovely as well. I appreciate the way the yarn varies in thickness and how that would make the finished garment more beautiful and interesting. Something unique about me is that I genuinely enjoy making my own things, weather is homemade whole grain mustard, grommet drapes or crochet hats and scarfs.

I love the look of this yarn as it provides more of a handmade, homespun look. The blend of all the different fibers appeal to me. I guess it’s because it’s unique like me and my family. A conglomeration of races and backgrounds like I’d like to hope we all could be. We are all humans and all the same but all unique in our own ways. Ignoring all my medical issues and not getting anymore political 😳, I have a funny unique thing, one ear is different than the other lol. Didn’t notice till I got my ears pierced and then I was traumatized! 😂 The things you worry about at 11. lol

This yarn looks great I’ve only worked with acrylic and cotton so this would be a great treat. Looks soft yet textured. I’d love to make a scarf. I like the thick/thin of this yarn, but I worry about gauging it (like Ellen mentioned in the video, I’d need a big swatch and I am too new to figure that out). So I would make a scarf or afghan so the exact dimensions wouldn’t be too important.
Something unique about me is that I served for almost 32 years in the u.s. army and retired from the army about 1.5 years ago.
Love the colors. I can see a scarf being made for a retired elementary music teacher who started a dulcimer group and continues to teach us to play. No music knowledge needed. Would be a great way to say thank you.
I love working with unique yarns and I am sure (by watching Ellen’s video) I won’t be disappointed. This yarn is also beautifully crafted. I love the way it is imperfectly, perfect. It gives it character. I am a grandmother of 10 & also have 2 great-grandsons . I crochet for them very often.

Hello! The yarn is GORGEOUS! Something unique…hmmm…well, I’ve only been hooking for a little over the year after becoming permanently disabled. Umph. Not my favorite word. But I digress…crocheting has literally saved my sanity! Due to limited income, I’ve only been able to hook with the lesser expensive acrylics and cottons (YAY for WALMART! ) so I’ve not yet had the experience of using a blend of any sort! So…I guess I’m a blend virgin 🙂 HA!! And I do love Ellen’s videos…

Beautifully comfortable look, and so fine!! Crochet garments in this yarn will be nice all year round. Creating for others is mostly what I do but I don’t know if I could gift this or not….so tempting to keep.

This yarn looks delightful. Years ago my husband was stationed in Germany and I came across the most beautiful crocheted pieces. Being on an Army budget meant there was no extra cash for crafting….so I found some very inexpensive crochet thread and a German craft magazine and taught myself how to crochet by studying the charts ( I spoke very little Deutsche) I still have those doilies all these years later.
After being in school for four years I have rediscovered the joy of crocheting and love making items as gifts. I especially like variegated and mixed fibers because I hate tying in loose ends! Lol. I learned to crochet when I was seven and I take projects to work on when camping in the wilderness (I live in Wyoming) via horse and mules.
What’s unique about me is that most of the projects I crochet are made from yarn people have gifted to me and for other people as gifts. This hobby doesn’t cost me money but rather saves me money (because my budget requires).

This yarn is so soft in color but is eye popping in character. I love the color blend. I like to make things like sweaters,capes, poncho’s ect…. I like giving my creations to the needy to keep them warm. This is very special to me.
