Hello Everyone!

It’s time for a Special Flash Pattern release! This means that we give a normally paid pattern away for free for the weekend!

This lovely vest was designed by Rachel Brockman, and uses Universal Yarn Deluxe Worsted yarn in color 12257 Pulp. This is a beautiful 100% non-superwash wool yarn that has a wonderful texture and durability. We offer many beautiful colors that allows for creativity in projects.

The Olwen features a lovely cable motif on the front that adds a nice texture and visual interest to the vest. It also creates this interesting hemline due to the differences in row gauges.

Deep armholes enhance comfort and make it easier to layer over different outfits. This is a versatile piece that can really transform an outfit. Whether it’s paired with a turtleneck for a cozy look or layered over a dress for something dressier, it will become your wardrobe staple.

Flash Pattern Friday – Vermillion

Hello Everyone!

It’s a Special Flash Pattern release! This means that we give a normally paid pattern away for free for the weekend!

Starting today, Friday, 9/27, you can get the Vermillion Sweater pattern for free on Ravelry using the code FLASH. This offer runs through Sunday, 9/29.

This beautiful sweater was designed by Rachel Brockman, and uses Universal Yarn Deluxe Worsted Tweed Superwash yarn. This yarn has a classic tweed look that adds a little bit of extra to any garment. Deluxe Worsted Tweed Superwash consists of 90% superwash wool, 7% anti-pilling acrylic, 3% viscose and it is machine washable.

The Vermillion Sweater features various cable and slip-stitch panels that give the body a textured look. It is complimented with bracelet-length sleeves that are knit mainly in Stockinette Stitch with a small slipped rib pattern going through the middle. The split in the hem is a very stylish detail. This sweater is worked flat in pieces and seamed.

The Vermillion is a gorgeous addition to your wardrobe and is a sweater you will want to wear again and again.

This colorful shawl, designed by Aubrey Busek, uses both Universal Yarn Cotton Supreme Waves, a lightweight 100% cotton yarn, and Universal Yarn Cotton Supreme, a medium-weight 100% cotton yarn.

Cotton Supreme Waves is a soft yarn that sports beautiful self-striping colorways and pairs great with the solid colors of the Cotton Supreme yarn.

This is a top-down semi-circle shawl that begins with just a few stitches and rapidly grows as you work sections of the Wavy Lace stitch pattern, mixed with simple Garter stitch rows. Your finished shawl will be lightweight yet warm with a lovely drape.

Free Pattern Friday – Elemental Set

Happy Friday, fellow crafters! Today’s free pattern features the Elemental Set designed by the Universal Yarn Design Team.

The Elemental Set is just the ticket to start prepping for pumpkin spice season. The cowl is knit in the round as a tube and instructions are included for both a seamless and a seamed version. The hat is knit in the round from the brim up. Both pieces utilize a slip-stitch texture that showcases our vibrant Cobblestone yarn. This yarn is a 2-ply, 100% superwash merino, with one solid ply and one variegated ply, giving it the appearance of a handspun yarn. The Elemental Set uses one skein each of 101 Dragon’s Breath and 111 Paradise.

Cobblestone has 16 beautiful colors that come in a whopping 200g beehive skein. With approximately 612 yards to work with, these generously sized skeins are perfect for everything from accessories to garments.

These vibrant socks use three colors of Uni Merino, a super fine 75% superwash merino wool and 25% nylon blend. Free Pattern Friday – Spark Tee

Happy Free Pattern Friday! I hope you are enjoying the beautiful summer sun on this holiday week. This Friday, we are releasing a brand new pattern knit using one of our most Pop-ular yarns.

The Spark Tee was designed by Afifa Sayeed using Bamboo Pop Sock in one of the newest colors we released last year. Bamboo Pop Sock is a sock-weight yarn comprised of bamboo, cotton, and PBT; the perfect fiber blend for hot days.

The Spark Tee is the perfect essential for a casual day out. An open mesh-style stitch pattern is worked on the main body, giving this tee a stretchy, breezy feel. The mesh pattern is easy to memorize, making this tee a great choice for knitters of all skill levels.

You’ll knit the Spark Tee flat in pieces, starting with the Front. Although seaming knits may not seem like the most fun part of a project, they add structure and integrity to the final piece, which is great for elastic yarns like Bamboo Pop Sock.

After seaming, stitches are picked up around the armholes as well as the neckband to create the ribbed edging. The ribbing offers a nice textural contrast to the mesh pattern.

Designer Afifa Sayeed chose color 702 Ecstatic for the Spark Tee. I love how playful and sunny this shade looks. Bamboo Pop Sock has a unique self-shading print throughout, so any color you choose will result in an exciting finished piece. If I made the Spark Tee, I would choose color 706 Serentiy; pink and purple are my favorite colors!
